James Holseauer was poised to beat the record of most money won on the popular TV game show.

He just needed another $58,000 to top Ken Jennings 2.5 million dollars in earnings, but James lost on the episode that

aired last night to a 27-year-old librarian from Chicago.

Emma Betcher used the same strategy of chasing down the daily doubles and betting big.

When it was over, James walked over and gave Emma a high five.

He said, nobody likes to lose but, quote, I'm very proud of how I did.

I lost to a top-level competitor who had to play a perfect game to beat me

Even though it's not officially summer yet. It's already sizzling hot in some places.

In one city in Northern India, the temperature over the weekend was 50.6 degrees

Celsius or 123 degrees Fahrenheit.

That's very close to the record temperature in that country of 51

degrees Celsius set three years ago. And of course you're now wondering what is the

official highest recorded temperature on Earth? According to the world

meteorological organization it's 134 degrees Fahrenheit which was

measured on July 10th 1913 in Death Valley California.
