Welcome to the program. It's our one on this Thursday, Dan on the Danettes, Dan Patrick

show. I don't know how we top yesterday. It was kind of a wild three hours where we had

gotten word that Danny Ang was stepping down, maybe retiring, although I don't think he's

retiring. I think he'll end up with another team in the NBA, perhaps the Utah Jazz. And

then Brad Stevens was no longer going to coach. He was moving into the front office. And

then Mike Shoshewski announces that this season will be his last season as a basketball

coach. That's just Wednesday. I don't know what today holds. But you know, you start to

think about this. You may not like Duke. You may even hate them, but it's hard not to

respect what coach K has done over the last four decades. He'll retire after this season.

John Shire, his assistant will take over a former player. And that gives us time to celebrate

the winning his coach in history and you'll understand what he accomplished. I think

you have to remember what Duke was like when he took over in 1980, not an elite program.

Duke had had some prior success in the 60s, but this is the premier program in the country.

One five national titles. He did it with different styles, different players. He broke through

with upper classmen. One titles that way and brace the one in donors. One titles that

play wasn't plagued by scandals and his players always stayed close to the program after

they left. He added Olympic gold medals to his resume and did so much to grow the sport

here in abroad. So you might boo, Duke. And why not? I have no problem with that. But

make sure you cheer coach K recognize an incredible impact on the sport. Congratulations, coach

K going out the way you want to go out. John Shire takes over. And I wondered about
