Hello, I'm Alicia McCarthy, and this is today in Parliament from BBC Radio 4.

On Thursday the 6th of March, the government pledged to move away from fossil fuel drilling

to green energy production in the North Sea.

It might be drill, baby drill in the USA.

It's doll baby doll under labour in the UK.

Also on this programme, One Pier has a suggestion for how to stop children using their mobiles in school.

Smart dumb phones that don't have access to social media but only allow children to text and keep out of danger.

And ahead of International Women's Day, a minister promises action on violence against them.

We cannot stand and say any more that lessons will be learned. What I promise is that I will

actually learn the lessons. But first, the government has confirmed

its pressing ahead with plans to end the windfall tax on oil and gas profits by 2030.

Ministers are launching a consultation on what should replace it.

The windfall tax or energy profits levy, as it's officially known,

was introduced in May 22 after companies

recorded skyrocketing profits due to a sharp rise in energy prices. The money raised went to help

households with their bills. The government has also confirmed it will not issue any new

licenses for offshore oil and gas exploration.

Making a statement in the Commons, the energy security minister Sarah Jones told MPs

the consultation would also look at how to move from fossil fuels

to generating clean energy in the North Sea.
