And take it from the top a little bit about where you start out with life and grew up and

then someday you found yourself in 1970 up at CCN. All right, very good. Yeah, from Pennsylvania,

but when I was a two, my mother moved we she was going through a divorce

to the Washington DC area and then I ended up growing up in Maryland my grandparents

actually raised me so there I was as I was growing, I always wanted to be a Marine. My dad served in the Second World War.

Had the great uniforms? Oh, yeah, yeah, they do. They're dressed uniform, sure is, it's nice. But I wanted to be a Marine, but I I was also I wanted to jump out of airplanes

and somebody told me that if you want to jump out of an airplane you have to be

in the Army that the Marines didn't have airborne well that's sort of true they

don't have airborne units but you know they do have guys that jump out of planes

so I changed my mind and I wanted to go into the Army.

And that's where I had my sight set.

I wasn't very good in school.

My grades were okay, but I didn't like school at all.

And in high school, I almost quit school.

Luckily, a teacher pulled me aside and he said look he said the war

still going to be going on Vietnam still going to be going on. There's something called a delayed

enlistment. He said you know you can enlist and then when you graduate, you can go into the service.

So that's what I did.
