Welcome to the Get Fit Guys quick and dirty tips to slim down and shape up.

0:08.5

My name is Ben Greenfield. I'm the Get Fit Guy, and today I'm going to be talking to you about the ultimate yardstick to measure your fitness level.

0:17.6

It's bragging rice for life and the first question you get asked when you go out for the

0:21.9

team. And although it might be just slightly overrated, the bench press exercise is a pretty good

0:28.8

feather to add to your exercise cap. So in this episode, you'll learn what the bench press is,

0:34.1

the benefits of bench pressing, how to bench press, and the potential hazards of

0:39.3

small child.

1:16.6

1:21.6

that can actually hold the barbell weight for you, which is especially convenient if you're

1:26.6

working with heavier weights. So to do the bench press exercise once you're in this position,

1:30.3

lower the weight to your chest until your arms are bent at about 90 degrees

1:35.3

or maybe a little bit more, then press the weight away from the chest

1:39.3

until your arms are straight but not necessarily locked out.

1:42.3

Sounds simple? Well, congratulations.

1:45.0

You're ready to work up to the current world record bench press of 1,075 pounds.

1:51.0

Well, bench pressing 1,075 pounds might not be your cup of tea.
