podcast episode where are we at 52. I have with me today James Alfred and

Jason Lindgren. We're going to talk about the

formation of JPL or basically the modern foundations of modern rocketry and as many know JPL basically became a part of NASA and is

responsible for things like suppose machines that go to space like the Mars

Rovers I suppose China's JPL would be responsible for their

claim that they have a rover on the moon right now.

But let's talk a little bit about the sky and how we get up there.

In 112 of the common era, a man, well, this is attributed to a man called Omar Khayam,

and it is attributed to the date 1120 in the common era.

And it goes as follows, this is an excerpt from the Rubiot of Omar Khayam.

And the inverted bowl they call the sky, where under, crawling cooped, we live and die.

Lift not your hands to it for help, for it as impenently moves as you or I. You may notice that in the first line he refers to

the sky as an inverted bowl. I've mentioned it on this channel before that I

actually finally saw the Milky Way what is called the Milky Way arching over my head and for the first time saw what is referred to in a seemingly old writings as the vault, the arch, or the dome of the sky. So how do we get up there? How do we get up to the

arch, the vault, the dome of the sky? Well we do it with rockets, we're told, right?

That's how we're told, right?

So these are serious endeavors.
