Summary

William Kuehn began his career in Madison, Wisconsin, as the drummer for the beloved emo band, Rainer Maria. A Wisconsin native himself, Joe played some of his earliest shows opening for Rainer Maria, so he and William have known each other for about 20 years. William charts Rainer Maria's history, and he tells Joe about feeling like an outsider; falling in love with punk music; living in an East Bay Squat; and traveling through the Middle East.

1:06.4	Formed in 1995 in Madison, the band started out playing basements, and over the course of the subsequent decade, recorded five albums and a handful of EPs, toured relentlessly, and built a substantial and devoted fan base.
1:21.6	I grew up in Milwaukee, and a band I played in in high school played many early shows with Rhina Maria.
1:27.9	I was always struck by William's innovative self-taught technique and his dynamic sensitivity
1:33.4	as he deftly alternated between pummeling and caressing his stylish Tiger's Eye pawn chop drum kit.
1:41.3	Reiner Maria won on hiatus in 2006, but William has remained active, touring with bands such as the teenagers, Golden Filter, and Prosaics.
1:51.3	He's currently preparing for a tour with Meredith Graves, and The Reunited Reiner Maria is writing a new album.
