Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Friday, October 12, 2018. This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast,

we have had the joy of talking about Jesus. We talked about how he is the absolute center

of everything we believe in practice as Catholics. We also talked about how God is not,

how Jesus is not only fully God, but also fully human, which means he had all the power and

might and majesty of God, and yet he experienced every single thing that we experience as humans on this earth.

Yesterday we talked about Jesus' mission and how he preached that the kingdom of God was at hand

and that the kingdom of God is not really a place.

It's simply anywhere where his followers are attempting to bring God's love and forgiveness.

Today we're going to talk about Jesus's example.

Now, Jesus taught in two very powerful ways.

First of all, he preached.

He gave instruction and told stories called parables, but he also simply lived an example

that was a powerful teaching for us all.

Jesus did three remarkable things that we are going to talk about today.

First of all, in Jesus' example, we see that without hesitation,

he welcomed everyone. Even if they were a social outcast, even if they were a known sinner,

he welcomed them, he treated them well, and he loved them.

One of the best stories of this is a story of Matthew.

Now Matthew was a known tax collector.

Tax collectors were hated in Jewish society because they worked for the Roman government.

They went, they collected taxes from the Jews. If the Jews didn't pay it, they reported them to the Roman government. They went. They collected taxes from the Jews. If the Jews didn't pay it,
