If you meet somebody, you know, for the first time, you're curious about what the person does, what their job is.

But you shouldn't say, what is your job?

No, that's not too nice. Use this expression. What do you do for a living? What do you do for a living? What do you? What do you do for a living? So actually, what do you do?

This means the same thing. Do you have a job? Are you a student? What do you do? But when we add for a living, it actually means job. So if you see a 17-year-old boy, will you say,

what do you do for a living? No, you're not going to say that. You have to guess that the

person you're talking to has a job, then you use this expression.

So, what do you do for a living? What do you do for a living? It's a very nice expression, and

when I meet somebody for the first time, I ask it. So you can too. Let's check out a dialogue. What do you do for a living?

I'm a teacher. Oh, really? What do you teach? I'm a math teacher at Harvard.

What? That does not sound like a Harvard math teacher. Maybe it's not Harvard University. Maybe it's
