Today is Friday, May 24, 2024,

the start of the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

And we begin with NASA pushing back the first crude flight of Boeing's troubled starliner spacecraft yet again.

It's the fifth post-ponement this month and follows years of mechanical delays and

setbacks dating back to 2019. The most recent glitch is a persistent helium leak. The earliest

possible launch from Cape Canaveral is now

Saturday June 1st. If and when it successfully lifts off,

astronaut Sunita Williams and Barry Butch Wilmore will arrive on the International Space Station a day later,

then spend a week in the low orbit lab before returning home.

A lot is riding on this flight.

Boeing needs it to go off without a hitch so that

NASA will clear starliner to shuttle astronauts back and forth to the space
