Good morning and welcome to Kid News. I'm Tori. Today is Monday, May 12, 2025. And we begin with the

floating Soviet space junk returning to Earth. Last week, we told you about an old spacecraft

that was expected to crash

land soon, and it's believed the capsule of Cosmos 42 entered our atmosphere early Saturday morning.

According to Russia's space agency, it splashed down harmlessly in the Indian Ocean west of

Jakarta, Indonesia. The spacecraft was first launched in 1972 to study Venus,

but the mission didn't go as planned. Technical problems led this cylinder-shaped craft that was

three feet in diameter to circle our planet for the last 50 years until it was slowly dragged

back home.

Air travel has gotten a lot of bad press recently,

especially with another brief equipment failure at Newark Airport early Friday morning.

But one U.S. airport is sharing some good news.

Pittsburgh International just announced it's going to more than double its solar capacity for the microgrid that fully powers the entire airport. Currently, the facility is 10,000 solar panels on top of a landfill,
