Yesterday, Ruth Bader Ginsburg called into the Supreme Court's

third day of oral arguments from the hospital. The nation's oldest justice and

four-time cancer survivor is being treated for a gallbladder infection but wasn't about to let it get

between her and the two cases on the docket. Doctors say she's doing well and has already been released.

For the most part the justices seem to be smooth

operators for this new way of hearing cases, although Justice Stephen Breyer's

connection dropped, ironically, during a case about robocalls and during the same argument something that sounded

suspiciously like a toilet flush was picked up on the audio feed.

The chairman of the FCC, which regulates phone service, joked on Twitter that he's hoping the flush wasn't a reflection of the court's opinion.

Sometimes the most amazing discoveries happen by chance.

Astronomers in the Czech Republic have been tracking two stars orbiting each other in the constellation

telescope telescope.

What they found in the process just might be the closest black hole to Earth. the away. In astronomical terms, that's practically next door.

Black holes by nature normally can't be seen because not even light escapes their strong gravitational pull.

However, amateur astronomers in the southern hemisphere are in luck.

On a clear and dark night, these two bright stars circling the black hole can be seen,

no telescope required.
