week in the United States. And we begin with proof that second chances in sport and in life are possible.

Today, Gulf for Tiger Woods will be at the White House to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

The award, which is the nation's highest civilian honor, is given to people who show a significant

contribution to the United States.

Woods took home the green jacket at the Masters last month, his first major tournament win

in 11 years.

More than the highly improbable athletic comeback, however, was the personal one.

Tiger ruined his own game with a series of headline grabbing, embarrassing problems,

then reboundedounded only to be

sidelined again by injury still he refused to give up at 43 he'll be one of the

youngest recipients of the award only the Apollo astronauts were younger and it'll also be the only active athlete ever honored.

In science news,

cats may be born with nine lives but one mid-Western tabby can thank an engineering class at the

University of Wisconsin Madison for his two hind legs. The cat was a stray and

arrived at a shelter with a serious infection. Vets had no choice but to amputate his two back legs,

and subsequently nicknamed him, Sergeant Stubbs,

then reached out to the students for help,

and help they did.

The class made two new legs with a 3D printer and added straps to

hold them on. Sergeant Stubbs new owner has high hopes the cat will thrive with

his new prosthetics, but so far has no plans to unname him, Stubbs.
