A couple of settlements I want to share with you that have recently happened.

One is from Phillips, and they make a CPAP machine and been sued a whole bunch of times, and they have reached a $1.1 billion settlement.

And these have to do with its CPAP, you know, the things that help people with sleep apnea,

and you have that machine over your face.

There was a massive recall in 2021 and so what ended up happening?

Well, it just so happens that a foam that was used inside the device to make it run quieter and limit vibration

could disintegrate and people could breathe in pieces of the foam and then

it just goes on and on and uh recall of more than 15 million machines now of course uh they're not

claiming liability because they can't they can't say it's our fault because that screws them for any lawsuit in the future.

I mean, it's, you've admitted. You've admitted you've done it wrong.

There's no place else to go. There's no defense to that.

So they never admit liability or fault. They just settle the money.

They just settle for the amount of the money.

And that happens all the time. Just

the numbers are getting big. Now, an interesting one is Johnson & Johnson. This is the ovarian

cancer case against the baby powder, the talc that's used by, I don't know how many millions

of women and men too. It's a 6.5 billion dollars worth and there are

thousands of lawsuits in the u.s. claiming that the talcabwe based products cause ovarian cancer yes

mainly women i would think very few men get ovarian cancer and it's a little complicated complicated. The deal allows Johnson & Johnson to resolve the lawsuits through a third bankruptcy filing of a subsidiary company.

So this is just a very complicated case in which effectively that division that makes Johnson and Johnson talc is going bankrupt and provides a settlement to the court that it can afford.
