Kentucky is one of the weirdest states in the United States. I mean, first of all, their national or the state meal is a possum sandwich, and that's already, you know, you're in a different place.

So here's what happened. And boy, and they pro police, too, in Kentucky. So here's what just

happened. A bill advancing out of the Kentucky, a Senate committee, is going to make it a crime

to insult or taunt the police to the point where the taunts provide or provoke a violent

response.

Now, would you think that that is a violation of the First Amendment, right?

Freedom of speech?

Oh, yeah.

Oh, yeah.

And the courts have been so serious about it. I mean, there were laws saying you couldn't flip the bird at the cop. And people were thrown in jail for it. Gone. First Amendment violation. And this is a bill that it went seven to three vote. And the argument is, and it is an argument that on its face makes a lot of sense.

A police officer is doing what he or she should be doing. And when you see, especially now,

crowds of people within, let's say there's an encounter, the cop and a suspect, particularly if it's a white

cop and an African-American suspect, you know that it's being videoed and people are screaming

and taunting the police. And here's what the police have to do. Ignore those people and move

ahead. That's not easy for a cop to do, not even a little bit. Well, if you go beyond that and taunt and taunt and taunt

to where some kind of a physical response is necessary in responding to the taunt, and that becomes

a criminal violation, then you can be arrested. First Amendment is going to kill that.
