Hey guys, how's it going? Scott Devine here again with another episode of the SBL podcast for you.

And today we've got the one and only Mike Janish. I've been following Mike and what he's been doing for literally years.

Actually, the first time I saw him live, I will remember for the rest of my life. He was playing upright.

He's a great upright player. He's also an electric

player. But he was playing upright. And he literally blew my mind. It was like nothing else I've

ever seen. He was just amazing. He's played with, well, I'm just going to read a list of guys

he's played with. It's like the who's who of jazz, right? It's like Gary Burton, Quincy Jones, George Garzone, Roy Hargrove, Joe Locke, Mark Turner, Shirley Horn, Joe Levano, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Clarence Penn, Kenny Weiner, Wheeler, Lee Connett, Donnie McCaslin, Mike Marino, Gwillam Cicke, Ralph Alessie,

Jeff Ballard, Jason Rebello, Aaron Parks, Martin Taylor,

Kurt Elling.

I'm sure you get the idea.

He's a really, really talented bass player.

And he's been at it a long time.

You know, he's, I think he's a couple years younger than me, about the same age.

But he really is somebody to check out.

And not only is a great electric player, a great upright player,

he also runs his own record label as well that we get into in this interview.

So I know that you're going to really dig it.

And I should also say that he's the

bass teacher at the Royal Academy over here in the UK, which is kind of like the most prestigious

music school to go to. And he's the base teacher there. So he really knows his stuff when it

comes to education as well. And I really do think you're going to like it. Before we get into the interview, I just want to say a huge thank you for everybody that entered in the giveaway.
