In every culture's mythology, apart from their gods, a distinguished place is saved for their

heroes whose accomplishments adorn their tales, their traditions, their poetry, and their literature.

In their quest to touch whatever their powers do not allow them to realize,

mankind has created figures that achieve the impossible and adorned them with

supernatural and superhuman talents. These special mortals who are endowed with

beauty, physical strength, and special attributes

were called heroes by the Helenes, a term first used in the poems of Homer. In myths, the heroes were usually of divine descent,

from the union of a god or a goddess, with a mortal man or woman, respectively.

According to their contribution to humanity, after their death, they

became demigods who, as they are presented by Heseid, live eternally in great happiness, away from sufferings.

Greek myth is dominated by the lives and accomplishments of these heroes.

Every region in the Greek world created its own heroic figures and account for their numerous adventures and labors.

At first, these labors were stories told orally through the generations, they became fairy tales and tradition.
