So I want to tell you about some places

that you can visit over these holiday weeks

if you're lucky enough to be around this time of year.

But I must caution you that

cell phone service is not to be

expected in the lonelier parts

of the desert. Once you're

away from the miserable

comforts of fast food

and 24-hour super centers.

So put your plans down on paper and prepare to be on your own.

Before I get to that, I was at the office shipping out holiday mail orders this week,

and there was a note left in the mail slot,

which is nailed shut, so I don't know how the letter got inside.
