And that's kind of how I started the magazine besides working with Pete.

Some of my friends said, oh, boy, there should be another surfing magazine.

But you couldn't do that, R.G., and I just took it kind of a dare, and got Pete started up, and it just kind of rolled from there.

And that's how I got involved in a lot of things like that.

The rest of the guys were really good at what they did, but they weren't well-rounded

enough.

Like there's a famous surfer, Tommy Lee.

I don't know if you remember.

They called him Cannonball Lee because it went in Bruce Brown's movies.

He was riding Wymea by himself in the early morning and lost it.

He rolled like a cannonball right down the wave, and that's how he got his name.

And we were sitting in a bar in Aspen, Duke Boyd again, and Tommy and some other friends.

And we talked about who's the baddest ass on the planet?

And we're, and everybody, oh, Mohammed, no, there's a guy, there's this guy.

So we did an event called the World Series of Martial Arts Championships.

And it was called no rules.

Because if you're a boxer and I'm a wrestler, I don't want to fight by your rules.

You don't want to fight by mine, so we'll have no rules.

The only rule was that you couldn't strike to the groin or gouge out your eyes.

And you had to pad all the areas you struck with.
