Today is Wednesday, April 30th,

2025. And we begin with a bell-to-bell cell phone band coming to every public school in New York State.

Starting this September, students will have to ditch their devices from arrival to dismissal,

and that includes lunch and free periods. Think you'll get away with a wearable? Nope. The crackdown

also includes smart watches. In fact, the only exception will be for kids who need a phone to

manage a medical condition or for translation. Mobiles that don't have internet, so-called dumb phones,

will still be allowed. And while New York is now the biggest state to enact an all-day ban,

it's not the first. Virginia already has one on the books. Arkansas will introduce its ban in the fall,

and several other states like Florida, Utah, Texas, Missouri, and Oklahoma are actively considering it.
