And we begin with what could be a double-edged sword for kids and parents like.

According to the Wall Street Journal, more and more schools are

pulling the plug on remote learning and ending the academic year weeks ahead of

schedule. Select districts in Washington, D.C. New Hampshire, Georgia, Nebraska, and

Texas say the quick pivot to online classes may have been seamless for some but for students and teachers trying to navigate

unreliable internet at-home distractions and ever-changing grading guidelines

the stress outweighed the benefit.

At this point, there's no definitive word on when or even if the lost time will be made up.

But a mid-summer restart is reportedly on the table.

Late yesterday, the governor of California was the first,

but probably not the last,

to float the idea of the 2020 to 2021 school year

beginning as early as late July.

It's a dubious milestone indeed.

In just three short months, the number of coronavirus cases in the U.S.

has topped 1 million.

Add to that number a handful of zoo tigers, a few housecats, and now one dog.

A pug from Chapel Hill, North Carolina apparently caught it from his humans, both of whom are doctors.

Winston's symptoms were mild, a cough and a loss of appetite, but he tested positive nonetheless.
