Summary

Today’s expression and dialog: to dig deep So, how was DDM100? It was great! We dug deep into sandwiches. Sandwiches? Yeah! Coach Shane and his mom showed us how to make four different kinds of typical, American sandwiches! Do you ever listen to the radio? When I was young, I was ADDICTED! Every night. I'd listen to anything--rock music, country music, new wave music, talk radio, sports--anything. My radio put me to sleep at night, woke me up in the morning, played along as I studied--it was my constant companion. Then, in my 20s and 30s, when I lived in Korea, I didn't listen to the radio anymore...but, strangely, I was a radio DJ!!! However, for the past few years I have started to listen again--especially to podcasts which is like talk radio! I LOVE IT! Why? Because I can choose the programs I want to listen to and the DJs always DIG DEEP--"to dig deep" is our expression today! Enjoy! Coach Shane Please subscribe on iTunes and get this podcast EVERY DAY! So today's expression, it's a good one. It is to dig deep,

0:50.2

to dig DIG. That means, you know, you make a hole in the ground. You get a shovel or you use your fingers and you just start digging. Dogs like to dig in the ground,

0:56.6

and inside the hole they will put their bone and hide it.

1:02.0

And then later they'll dig it back up and chew on their bone.

1:06.3

That's what dogs do.

1:08.2

To dig.

1:09.3

If you dig really, really, really deep deep in the ground you'll find water and people who

1:15.5

live in the country usually have a well they get their water from the ground they dig a well but to dig a well

where i live you have to dig deep. You see, right now, I live in the

1:32.6

desert. There's no water anywhere. So you got to dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig.

1:39.7

And then maybe finally, eventually, if you go deep enough, you might find some water.

1:47.2

Well, fortunately, we have some lakes, but to dig deep is a great expression, and we use it

1:53.1

especially when we study, or when we have a nice conversation, or if there is a debate between politicians,

2:05.6

or maybe on a radio show, if you listen to a talk radio show.

2:10.9

To dig deep means to talk about a subject in depth, not just to talk about a subject in depth.

2:20.1

Not just to talk, you know, five minutes about a subject,

2:24.0

but to really analyze the subject,
