vacations, leisure, and recreation. You may have thought, there's no theology of vacations. Oh, not so fast. We'll

see as we go through the Bible that God has a plan for recreation, for you to be recreated, to be refreshed, to be rested so that you can

become a child of God. Our identity as children of God, sons and daughters of God, is wrapped up in

this whole idea of recreation and rest and we're going to see that today in the pages of Sacred Scripture.

Well first we'll start off with our joke, our weekly joke.

There was an elderly man, we'll call him Billy Edward, and he was having some chest pains and some

pains in his arm he was having problems with his hearing you know he was just

getting up there he's in his upper 80s and his body was breaking down. So he went to his doctor to get a full checkup.

And the doctor did a checkup and he gave him some advice, some things that he should do and

sent him off and wished him the best.

Well, a week later, the doctor sees Billy Edward at the park.

And Billy Edward, who again is in his late 80s, has this beautiful, just absolutely gorgeous blonde lady under his arm and he's walking around the park with this huge smile on his face. So the doctor thinks this is kind of

unusual so he walks over and says hey Billy Edward it's good to see it how's

everything going and Billy Edward said oh doctor things have, you know, I'm just living by what you told me,

you know, the doctor's advice, I just followed everything you said and life is great.

And the doctor said, what do you mean? What did I tell you?
