Ed Stafford is a survivalist, explorer and adventurer, an internationally acclaimed

Absolutely.

What fascinates me most about your work as a survivalist or an adventurer is the way

that you talk about the sort of conscious and spiritual component of surviving in extreme

situations. But in a way, your background is traditional in the sense that you're from

the military.

It is straight under the skin, isn't it? I think, Russell, I mean, I've always thought

it was, I'm in the world of adventure. I've done it off the back of a military career.

And yet for me, the obvious parts of adventure, crossing rivers, climbing mountains, toughing

it out, don't really interest me as much as the psychological aspects. Clearly, I think
