| 1:31.0 | And I don't know if you think of yourself as a religious person. A lot of Christians don't. |
| 1:36.0 | Because they say, I have a relationship with Jesus, not a religion. |
| 1:41.0 | And I would be the first to say a big loud Amen to that but James is using the word because it's the word he intends to use it's the right word for what he's saying. Here's what he says. He says if |
| 1:54.4 | anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless. |
| 2:08.1 | Religion that is pure and undefile before God the Father is this, to visit orphans and widows in their affliction |
| 2:16.0 | and to keep oneself unstained from the world. So when he says that word |
| 2:21.8 | religious he's using it in the proper sense, not this perverted |
| 2:26.2 | sense that we see in our day and age, where it's an effort to try and get to God by doing |
| 2:31.2 | good works. That's what James means by the word religious. |
