Hello everybody, welcome back to Daily Easy English expression.

Today we have a really good expression.

It's a word, it's a noun.

It is a retrospective.

Now, if you live in the country, you don't hear this too much. You might hear it on TV if, of course, you're watching English TV.

But if you live in the city, there's a pretty good chance you'll hear or see this word, a retrospective.

And we use it when we are talking about a musician or an artist or perhaps some historical period of time.

So one example I can give you is a couple weeks ago,

I read a book, actually our book club, read a book called A Secret Gift. This was a recommendation from Jean-Marie, one of our DDM students.

He's a Perf student, too.

And it's a great book.

This book is basically a retrospective on the Great Depression.

A retrospective on the Great Depression.

In America, in the 1930s, basically, the late 20s, early 30s, we had the Great Depression,

a very difficult economic period in America.

And this book looked at that period of time, a very short period of time during the Great Depression.

That is a retrospective.

When we go back retro in time and look at something,

spective, and study it and enjoy it, appreciate it, learn about it, and try to learn from it.

That's the idea.
