Today's expression is great to blow off some steam.

So we have a phrasal verb blow off, and it's an expression, an idiom, to blow off some steam.

What does this mean?

Well, first of all, let's look at the word steam. S-T-E-A-M.

If you take water and you boil it,

eventually you'll see the water

like a cloud going up to the sky.

That is steam.

Ah, yes, steam. So if a person has steam, what does it mean?

It means that, I don't know, their hot body goes into a cold area. We could see steam. But also, when somebody is angry, there is steam shooting out of the person's ears and out of their

nose right in the cartoons yeah that's the idea so i am steamed means i'm angry i'm very angry

to blow off me I am steamed means I'm angry. I'm very angry.

To blow off means to blow off something away.

So to blow off some steam means you are very angry and you're going to send away that anger. So let's say somebody is in your office and you can tell they're very, very, very, very angry and it's a dangerous situation. person could explode maybe he would he might throw his

computer or maybe he was going to hit somebody or maybe he's going to say a bad word to the boss

it could be very dangerous in this situation you should tell him hey hey buddy you should go

outside and blow off some steam try and get rid of some of that anger before you explode and hurt
