I'm your host, Josh Hallmark, and this is a serialized story of Israel Keys.

We've talked a lot about the Keys mythology.

The haunting story of Keys and how we thought he operated.

A story that has gotten so much bigger than the case itself.

And that mythology is, in part, the genesis of this podcast.

First to make sense of it, and then, over time, to deconstruct it.

Israel Keys is the most meticulous serial killer of all time.

He chooses his victims at random. He has no victimology.

He travels great distances to commit his crimes, and then immediately departs the area.

He has no pattern.

And while some of that is true some of the time, most of it has proven to be untrue most of the time.

And the problem is, so many times, Keys and his crimes have been investigated through the lens of that mythology.
