Summary

Warring gods, divided dynasties. Following the First Dynasty of rulers, the Egyptian royal family seems to divide. Shadowy records hint at civil conflicts, and archaeological information reveals climate change and economic decay. These troubles shattered royal unity, but they may have had a larger legacy: inspiring tales of the gods Horus and Seth, who waged a decades-long battle for the kingship of Egypt... 0:46.4	for the throne. Long, long ago, in the millennia before humans rose to rule the earth, power was given to the great gods to decide our fate and to rule Egypt for eternity.
1:12.0	Great beings like the Creator Atum, Ra the Sun God, and Osiris the Lord of agriculture
1:19.1	governed the world of humans and animals. Their rule was good, the very definition of justice and order. When
1:26.7	God spoke, their words were always true. The greatest ruler of all was Osiris.
1:34.0	Osiris, or Useru, the mighty one, was the Lord of eternity, a king of gods.
1:40.0	He was wholly of of a good king.
1:43.0	Osiris ruled Egypt with wisdom and justice.
1:48.0	He was the definition of a good king.
1:51.0	Osiris had a brother, Suitek.
1:54.4	He also had two sisters, Iset and Nebbeth Hut.
1:58.6	These four siblings were the masters of the earth given power by their divine parents.
2:04.0	Osiris and Iset, or ISIS, were a couple.
2:08.0	Suitek and Nebatutut, or Seth and Nephthus were another.
2:13.2	Between them, the majesty of worldly power was shared.
2:17.6	Osiris ruled over humanity, and he ensured that Egypt flourished. Farmers looked to him to make their crops grow,
2:25.6	and Osiris helped the annual flood to rise and nourish the crops.
2:31.1	Over time, the cult of Osiris replaced that of many other gods, and he became the master
2:37.4	of a whole range of powers.
