Summary

CJ's away in San Francisco, which means Phil and Greg are taking over this week and spending way too much time talking about one of their favorite systems--the Sega CD. Thrill to stories of the Sega CD launch; the greatest pack-in software bundle of all time; the synergy of Hollywood and Silicon Valley; and an in-depth review of the greatest Sega CD game you've never played. Dan even says two or three words during the segment!

Of course, we begin things this week with Whatcha-been playin'? Here we talk about everything from God of War II and sucking less than CJ to Tetris Evolution on 360 and everything in between. Oh, there's some Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Earth Defense Force 2017 in there as well. And in the following segment we tackle Jack Thompson's latest frivolous lawsuit, 2K Games' tendency to stick their heads in the sand, and Dan gets really angry about the European PS3 launch. Plus, is the third-party exclusive dead? You'll have to listen to find out.

Leave us a voicemail comment by calling 713-893-8069. Or you can e-mail us, vote for us on Digg, leave a comment on the iTunes Music Store, leave a comment on the blog page or join our forums! Thanks for listening, and we'll be back next week.

Hello and welcome to episode 22 of the Player One podcast for March 26, 2007. I'm your host, Greg Seward, and not with me as

0:23.9

always is my co-host, Chris Johnston. He's busy promoting Player One in the Bath Houses of San Francisco

0:29.6

this week. Speaking of Bath Houses of San Francisco, joining us after a week-long hiatus, is Mega Man himself, Phil Theobald.

0:39.4

Well, I'm glad to see you've made it safely. Now it's time for you to die.

0:46.1

What's that from?

0:47.7

The last alert.

0:48.9

Oh, okay. Come on.

0:50.5

Nice.

0:51.6

Back to share his past week's endeavors in the world of Warcraft is Dan Dormer. Kawabanga. Yeah. That wasn't very world of warcrafty. No. It was very teenage mutant ninja turtles-y. Hells, yes, it was. You know, it occurs to me that I'm the only one of the four of us that hasn't taken a week off yet. I guess you're the only one that really cares. Do you want a medal or something? Do you want an award? I'm just saying your slackers. Maybe I do. Is there an award for that? No, no, there's no achievement for that, Greg. That's got to be worth at least 50 points. Come on. Yeah, maybe. So, speaking of achievements, we'll start with Phil. Yes. And what you've been playing this week? Oh, man, what haven't I been playing this week? This has been a busy week with me for games. I've been playing a little God of War II, which I've missed out on talking about last week.

1:45.6

So I'll just say that I don't suck at it as bad as CJ does.

1:49.4

That would be very hard to do.

1:51.4

Exactly.

1:52.1

I was able to get past the intro sequence without, you know, having to resort to game facts or whatever.

1:58.3

Congratulations.

1:59.2

Thank you.

2:00.4

I downloaded some Symphony of the Night on Xbox

2:03.3

Live. So I started replaying that again. I'm still in the early stages, but it's just such a

2:09.4

great game. It is, isn't it? It is. One of the greatest games ever made. Yeah, I would agree.

2:14.4

What do you think of the conversion? Like, you happy?

2:18.6

It's, I mean, you know, like I said, I've only played it for maybe an hour or so, so far,

2:23.2

so I haven't gotten, like, you know, too involved with it.

2:26.4

I mean, it seems fine.
