You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Obviously everybody excited. We have gotten to the sweet 16 stage of the NCAA tournament. If you are curious, the games will begin a new on Saturday.

0:38.9

When we have got four different games going on. Let me run through them for you Oregon State going up against Loyola of Chicago. I'm going to be honest with you. That sounds like a phenomenal Saturday early game. Then we've got Villanova and Baylor J. Wright going up against Scott Drew.

0:54.9

Then oral Roberts against Arkansas Todd Furman going to pick oral Roberts. I know if you don't get that reference. It's because he's been feuding with Eric Musselman and everybody at the Arkansas razor backs and then Syracuse and Houston are the night cap on on Saturday.

1:14.9

I mean, I got to be honest with you in the sweet 16 all of those teams that I just ran through. I'm not sure anybody would have ever believed those were the eight teams other than maybe Baylor this year.

1:28.9

I'm not sure anybody would have been able to predict all of these different teams being able to play. All right. So that's Saturday.

1:37.9

And I if I had to we'll do a draft of these games. I'm sure before all is said and done. But I think maybe the most intriguing game on the Saturday list to me anyway is Oregon State against Loyola of Chicago.

1:51.9

And by the way on Sunday, Creighton Gonzaga, I'm never going to say that correctly. I'm just going to say get Zaga and people can just get mad at me every now and then I'm just going to maybe make a run and trying to say it the way that everybody wants me to say it. But that's that Florida state Michigan, which I think is going to be an incredible game.

2:11.9

UCLA Alabama and Oregon USC are the Sunday matchups for those of you out there who are curious when all those games will be played. I think I'd probably go Florida state Michigan as my top draft pick. But maybe the storyline here in general is what anybody have believed that

2:35.9

that six seed USC would be playing seven seed Oregon for a trip to the elite eight to be right on the precipice of advancing to the final four. So those are your eight remaining college basketball games. I think most of you would probably join me in saying let's cross our fingers and hope that we don't have any more VCU like situations and that we can actually end up with

3:04.9

all of those games being played story and a sentence of the NCAA tournament. I talked about it to start the show for those of you waking up on the west coast right now, by the way, congratulations on the pack 12 dominance. Colorado. I believe is the only team in the

3:23.9

pack 12 to have lost so far Michigan is the only team remaining from the big 10 and that is the NCAA tournament story in a sentence. What is going on here? The story is the big 10 was wildly overrated and the pack 12 was wildly underrated.

3:46.9

Let's unpack that sentence in general. I'll start with the pack 12 for those of you waking up on the west coast with me. This is the apex of pack 12 achievement since Reggie Bush, Matt liner, Lindell White and Pete Carroll were rolling through everybody in the USC era of dominance. Why do I say that? Because in general, athletic departments and conferences are judged on two sports.

4:15.9

Football and men's basketball. If things are going well in either are both of those sports, then everybody considers the athletic department to be doing well. If things are going poorly in those two, then everybody considers everything to be going poorly.

4:35.9

Now, not trying to look a scance or downward gaze upon any other sport. There's a lot of teams out there with great track programs. There's a lot of teams out there with great swimming programs. Women's basketball.

4:51.9

There are lots of different team sports that everybody can pay attention to and have an opinion on. But by and large, your athletic department is judged on the two sports that the most people pay attention to and that is men's basketball and football.

5:12.9

And if you go all the way back over basically the last 15 years, other than a blip every now and then with Oregon, particularly when Marcus Mario was playing because since the college football playoff began, the pack 12 has one college football win.

5:32.9

That was Marcus Mario in the Oregon ducks beating James Winston in the Florida state seminels. That is the only win that the pack 12 has had in the playoff.

5:44.9

Kind of crazy, right? And simultaneously, they have not won an NCAA tournament championship since all the way back in 1997 for the pack 12.

6:02.9

So we're talking about an offer for the 21st century for the pack 12 in men's basketball. Now, I don't really feel good even with all the success that the pack 12 has had about their odds of winning a championship this year, but they are having an incredibly successful season so far.

6:22.9

And that's why I think this is the height of pack 12 academic achievement, sorry, athletic achievement, lots of good pack 12 academic achievement going all the way back. And let me just say this, there are lots of pack 12 schools that have incredible athletic departments using Stanford as an example, they have dominated historically win.

6:44.9

I think it's the, when you look it up and see what it's called, is it called the champions cup or whatever it is for the best did I screw that up, whatever it is for the best athletic department.
