Good morning and welcome the kid news. I'm Tori it's Thursday March 21st 2019 and we begin with

Major League Baseball's 2019 season officially underway the first game on

Wednesday actually took place while most fans were asleep because it was played half a world away in Tokyo, Japan with the Oakland athletics taking on the Seattle Mariners.

And part of the excitement was legendary Mariners

outfielder and Japanese native Iichiro Suzuki

in the starting lineup.

At 45 years old, he's beginning his 19th year in the majors.

As expected, Eichiro received thunderous ovations during pre-game announcements.

The first game went the Mariners way with a final score of 9 to 7.

They played again overnight last night and then we'll

return to the US where opening day for the rest of the league is still a week away.
