Hey there it's scary parachute Friday March 17th the first Thursday of the NCAA tournament

is in the books the Saturday games are set welcome back to the Ion College basketball

podcast I got Matt Norlander here with me and we got a lot to get to including Indiana's

decision to fire Tom Kreen and what's next for the Hoosiers but I wanted to start with

the NCAA tournament and this is a decision rooted in feedback don't say I never listen

to you guys I do and what I gather is that most of you care less about the coaching

carousel than than maybe I do you want to hear about the tournament about the games about

the matchups and so what we'll do going forward is discuss the tournament in a variety of

ways and then if there's coaching stuff that I want to get to or Norlander wants to get

to we'll do that at the end so Indiana fans I'm going to get to you but first Norlander

let me ask what's your main takeaway from the first Thursday of the NCAA tournament?

Main takeaway and good morning GP yeah absolutely I actually my main takeaway was it was the

most ordinary Thursday I think we've had a long time now it was still good like the

afternoon session still had entertaining games and games that were close and a couple that

were kind of wired to wire close that I enjoyed I mean Notre Dame Princeton start off well

Bucknell was always within striking distance of West Virginia if that was a fairly decent

game watching middle Tennessee beat Minnesota the way that I expected middle Tennessee would

to play I thought that was fairly interesting and by the way not an upset they were favored

at tip in that game but really Northwestern beating Vanderbilt the way that it did I think

is the only I mean you had the one seeds down early but that occasionally happens they

come back it's not even close I think Northwestern is really the only thing from Thursday that

has significant carryover into you know as record Friday and as we prep for Saturday and

...
