Today is Tuesday, March 17th, 2026, St. Patrick's Day.

And we begin with people wearing green and celebrating with parades and

plenty of Irish music across the country and the world today. The holiday honors St. Patrick,

who, fun fact, was actually British, not Irish, for spreading Christianity throughout Ireland

1,500 years ago. Though many believe he drove snakes out of the country, historians say

that's a myth. Ireland never had snakes to begin with. Green became the holiday's main color

because of Ireland's nickname, the Emerald Isle. But early celebrations actually use blue.

Around the world, landmarks from the Sydney Opera House to the Eiffel Tower

are glowing green in the night sky, turning this day into a global salute to Irish history and

culture. At the Oscars, it was one win after another for one battle after another. The movie with

Leonardo DiCaprio and Sean Penn took home
