And we begin with everyone, hopefully feeling the luck of the Irish.

Today is St. Patrick's Day, a day to wear green or risk a pinch if we don't,

and hold massive parades in New York City, Boston, and of course Ireland.

Now most of those big events have been canceled this year but the

holiday's history lives on. Patrick, the man for whom it's named, is the patron

saint of Ireland even though he was actually born in Britain.

He is largely credited with spreading Christianity throughout Ireland in the 5th century,

with one of his more notable legends involving him using a Shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity.

Right now, there are an estimated 34.7 million residents

with Irish ancestry living in the US,

which is more than seven times

the population of Ireland itself.

This is one 911 call that police in Oregon never thought they'd hear

and hope to never hear again.

They're now urging people not to call 911 if they've run out of toilet paper.

The Newport Police Department posted the surprising message on its Facebook page saying,

you will survive without our assistance.

The department then offered numerous T.P. alternatives, including newspaper, cotton balls and

cloth rags.

For the record, Mother Earth News magazine lists 15 different kind of leaves that can work in a pinch.
