Today we're talking about this with Mark Perkorian.

He is the Executive Director of the Center for Immigration Studies.

You have been focused on this issue for at least 30 years and counting,

if I'm not mistaken, and we are going to lean on that knowledge today.

First let me just ask you what drew you to this topic or this issue.

Why are you passionate about it?

It's a good question.

It's not like I planned to run a immigration think tank.

It's not something you, you know, major in in college or anything.

I majored in history and government and found out you couldn't open a history store they didn't have

those so I went got my master's degree in the international relations studied

for a couple years in what was then still the Soviet Republic of Armenia. I'm Armenian background so it was, you know, it

beat getting a job, it was free. There you go. And then when I came back, the CIA turned

me down. I guess they took you, but didn't take me but that's all right because

well their loss they're lost I'm not sure I would have stuck with it and but as far as what drew me to the issue really initially
