We have been talking about it being the one year anniversary of Rudy Gobert testing positive for COVID and the entire world of sports shutting down as a result.

It's wild to think about how insane the past year has been, but almost simultaneously with that big announcement from the Texas Rangers being willing and able to step out and say we are going to be a hundred percent full.

Of fans when we open our major league baseball season in Dallas area at the Texas Ranger Stadium with the Toronto Blue Jays in town.

All the fans that want to come are going to be able to come now you have to wear mask, but this effectively to me is a major signpost in ending any kind of argument about the world of COVID and its impact on sports.

Because it has been a full year and it will be a little bit over a year.

It appears before we go back to full stadiums or arenas.

The last full crowds that we saw in the NBA happened a year ago on March 11, 2020 in Oklahoma City when the thunder and the jazz walked out for their game.

Word came that Rudy Gobert had tested positive and they canceled the game right then and there we actually had the governor of Oklahoma on I'm not sure if we can track that down maybe we'll play it for you tomorrow because I do think the story he was there Kevin stick the governor of Oklahoma.

He was taken one of his kids to that game when all of a sudden the news broke about Rudy Gobert testing positive and from that moment the NBA basically shuts down and then all of the conference basketball tournaments are underway and they shut down and there are teams pulled off the court either in the middle of the game as happened in the big east or as they're warming up to prepare to play the game itself.

As happened in many other conferences and so it's exciting if you are a college basketball fan to be able to just experience the basketball tournaments the conference basketball tournaments back and ready to roll and everything being set up for us all to be able to enjoy these I'm ecstatic about it.

I'm also really excited about a guest were about the debut we're going to do a little bit of a short open here for the second hour of the program because will cane formerly of ESPN radio now with Fox and friends Saturday and Sunday 6 to 10 a.m. Eastern that television program many of you will have watched it and he's about to debut a twice a week podcast but he did a lot of work with first take back in the day Stephen A Smith and Max Kellerman.

And also he has done a lot of radio he now is going to be joining us weekly a lot of you listen to the will cane show on ESPN radio and I'm excited to have him on weekly with us to dive into a lot of different topics and I think you guys are really going to enjoy those conversations that we are going to have so we have got an absolute loaded program for you coming up next Jeff Schwartz but I did it.

I did want to say as we are getting ready to finish off this hour congrats to the NHL players because it evidently is the case that there was and is a lot of demand for the NHL product and the NHL after a 17 year absence from ESPN.

ESPN has stepped up to the plate and said we want this product back and I think it speaks to the overall popularity of streaming now that so much of these games will be accessible through ESPN plus and we are now at a major inflection point as cable and satellite channels are experiencing new challenges and as many of you out there are cutting the cord so to speak.

You're all signing up for all these different streaming services and so the NHL has sold a large amount of its games to ESPN to be included on ESPN plus and so the downside I think in many ways is a lot of you thought hey without a cable or satellite subscription I'm going to save money on the streaming services but all of them are piling up now and I was counting the other day I've got nine different streaming services that my family now.

Subscribes to whether it's Netflix Amazon Disney ESPN plus which is a part of the bundle Hulu also a part of the bundle Amazon prime.

Paramount and also the HBO Max I mean it's crazy how many of these different streaming services you and me and everybody else out there is going to need to be able to sign up for in order to get all of our sports for everybody out there who used to complain about just having one remote

and the cost of a cable and satellite bundle it's way more complicated now to figure out what you're going to be watching but again when we come back short segment here to start the second hour because I'm excited debut will cane out will cane on Twitter weekly guest with us now he makes his debut on outkick next this is outkick on fox sports radio.
