The NFL is fully embraced gambling. We all know that.

And the league has earned a obscene amount of money because of that. But it comes with a downside.

Because players, coaches and owners can influence outcomes. And that leaves the NFL very vulnerable to games being fixed.

The NFL doesn't want to deal with that. That became clear yesterday as the NFL suspended Falconswide receiver Calvin Ridley for the entire season.

He was found to have bet $1,500 on games this past season. Now he had taken a break from playing in the NFL on Halloween.

And we don't know why he said he had to kind of get his mental part of his life back in order here.

Still don't know exactly what happened when he stepped away from the game.

And the NFL is already dealing with the dolphins under Steven Ross allegedly offering his head coach at the time, Brian Flores.

$100,000 to lose games is the penalty to severe. We can talk about that with Calvin Ridley.

The NFL needs to set a precedent too much money at stake. It's all about integrity.

And with the Steven Ross allegations floating around, this could become a trend here.

The suspension is going to cost Ridley $11 million in loss salary.

He may have bet $1,500, but he lost $11 million. The NFL has to feel that maybe that's fair.
