Fat Tuesday, also known as Marty Gras or Shrove Tuesday, Fat Tuesday is always celebrated on

the eve of Ash Wednesday. For folks in New Orleans, the nation's Fat Tuesday epicenter,

that means partying, parades, purple, gold, and green beads, colorful costumes, spicy

foods, and loads of king cake. Fat Tuesday is seen as sort of a last hurrah of fun and feasting

before 40 days of sacrifice in the Christian season of Lent, which begins tomorrow.

The president is expected to talk about such topics as national security, the war in Ukraine,

trade issues, and his trimming down of the federal government.

Tonight's event is not officially a state of the union speech,

which traditionally comes during the second, third, and fourth years of a presidency. Instead,

the address comes at the request of House Speaker Mike Johnson, who asked the president to lay out his agenda for the next four years. Michigan's freshman senator, Democrat Alyssa Slotkin,

will deliver the official rebuttal to the president afterward.

The biggest applause on Oscar night went to some local heroes. Between awards, host Conan O'Brien welcomed on stage 12 crew members who battled L.A.'s Eaton and Palisades fires.

After a nearly minute-long standing ovation, O'Brien thanked them on behalf of everyone in Greater Los Angeles for their
