Good morning and welcome to Kid News, I'm Kim.

Today is Wednesday, March 3rd, 2021, and we begin with an exciting bright blue discovery

off the coast of New Zealand.

Researchers say they've found three species of sharks that glow in the dark.

The trio includes the kite fin shark, the black belly lantern shark, and the southern lantern

shark.

Their ability to light up underwater, which is also called bioluminescence, isn't all

that rare, but scientists have never before seen it in sharks.

What's more, the kite fin, which grows to six feet, is now the ocean's largest known

light-up life form.

All three spend their time in the pitch black of the twilight zone, which is between 600

and 3200 feet below sea level, and too deep for the sun's rays to penetrate.

No one knows for sure why the sharks glow, but biologists suspect their blue hue might

help confuse potential predators and, or, illuminate, the seafloor to help them find dinner.

Dr. Seuss has decided to take a dose of socially correct medicine.

The company that manages his series announced it will stop the printing presses on six books

because of hurtful and racist pictures.

The titles include If I Ran a Zoo, and to think that I saw it on Mulberry Street, McAlligat's

pool, on Beyond Zebra, scrambled eggs super, and the cat's quizzor.

Dr. Seuss' enterprises says it intends to make sure the entire Seuss line respects all

communities and all families.

The ever-popular cat in the hat has also received criticism, but it will continue to be published
