Clay also discusses internships, which has been a trending topic because of NFL Network's Jane Slater. Houston Chronicle's John McClain joins the show to weigh-in on interns, his and Clay's start in the business, the surprise pick of Arizona by J.J. Watt and Deshaun Watson's future.

| 0:18.9 | So JJ watt to the Arizona Cardinals we obviously been talking a lot about that I just finished off the prior hour talking about what it could mean for Dishon Watson how I would analyze those situations and one of the stupidest one of the stupidest opinions that I saw out there was people comparing JJ watt to Dishon Watson. |
| 0:47.4 | And a 30 something defensive end who's only played two of his last five full seasons and has slated to cost tens of millions of dollars still under the salary cap is not a player that has very much value compared to Dishon Watson because some people are like well the Houston Texans were willing to let JJ watt leave and they won't let Dishon Watson leave at all. |
| 1:14.4 | Yeah, of course not because Dishon Watson is a 25 year old quarterback and JJ watt is a 30 plus year old 32 I think year old defensive end with major injury issues that he's coming on. |
| 1:28.4 | Dishon Watson based on the current precedent in the NFL could play quarterback for another 10 years till he's 35 years old and not even be old in the league. |
| 1:42.4 | Now I don't know whether he's going to have the longevity because he's had ACL issues already in both legs, I believe both both have had to be operated on and he's takes a lot of hits because he tends to hold the ball a little bit longer than your average quarterback. |
| 1:58.4 | So we'll see how that plays out going forward for him. |
| 2:03.4 | But playing at the age of 35 doesn't seem crazy to me for Dishon Watson and so you're talking about a decade of additional play from him potentially at an incredibly high level going forward and so this comparison of JJ watt into Sean Watson is absolutely absurd. |
| 2:25.4 | I will continue to reiterate however that I think many people are missing the larger issues associated with Dishon Watson in particular there's this idea that he has some form of power and I don't think that's true at all if you look at his contract. |
| 2:45.4 | If he wants to sit out he has the right to sit out nobody has to work for a living but right now if you look at Dishon Watson I mean he just signed a four year 156 million dollar extension. |
| 2:58.4 | But he's not slated to make that much money in 2021 so he will make right at 16 million dollars in 2021 his salary jumps a big way in 2022 when he makes 40 million and then he makes 42 million the next year. |
| 3:18.4 | So if you are JJ sorry if you are Dishon Watson you need to play next year to allow you to get into the monster money under your contract because right now you're still playing out under your original rookie deal and again I talked about last hour it's hard for me to have a lot of sympathy for a guy who is already signed a four year 156 million dollar extension. |
| 3:47.4 | If you are unhappy with the Houston Texans franchise why did you sign that extension last year you could have waited played out your option year and then seen what was possible out there or forced a trade then and let me just say this to this idea of forcing a trade I want to give a little bit of props here to LeBron James. |
| 4:15.4 | If you are an athlete the last thing you should want to do is force a trade the reason why you shouldn't want to force a trade is because the team that you're going to go join is going to have to give up a tremendous amount of assets in order to get you. |
| 4:39.4 | Well, Brian James didn't force a trade to Miami he waited for free agency he didn't force a trade to Cleveland and he didn't force a trade to LA why would you ever want to go to a team that has to give up massive assets to get you you should want to join them as a free agent. |
| 5:05.4 | That's the smart way to advance your interests without harming the interest of the franchise that you join if you're to Sean Watson you could find yourself very easily in another Houston Texans like situation because if you make a team give up three first round picks to trade for you or another substantial asset associated with that trade. |
| 5:32.4 | The team that you are joining has fundamentally weakened itself in order for you to become a member of that team. |
| 5:41.4 | One of the reasons why Dishon Watson is mad now is because there was the trade made for Laramie Tunsell to protect his blindside. |
| 5:53.4 | Well, I'm sure Dishon Watson love that trade when it was made and I'm sure Bill O'Brien did too because they thought hey we're basically getting Laramie Tunsell for a pick likely to be in the 20s instead you end up getting a pick in the number three overall spot. |
| 6:16.4 | So in order to try to protect their investment in Dishon Watson Bill O'Brien ended up wildly overpaying for Laramie Tunsell. |
| 6:26.4 | But in the short term I guarantee you Dishon Watson love that trade because it provided him protection on the blindside the left tackle Laramie Tunsell was there to keep Dishon Watson from getting decked. |
| 6:43.4 | And so to me that is an absolute no-brainer idiot move. If you force a trade the team that is trading for you is having to give up so many assets that they're not going to be able to build the kind of contending team around you that you need and that you want in order to justify why you were ending up leaving that team in the first place. |
