Today's expression is right off the bat. Oh, this is a great expression. Very American. Right off the bat. R-I-G-H-T, meaning immediately, O-F-F-off-the-bat, B-A-T, as in baseball, a baseball bat.

Not the Dracula flying bat.

Actually, I don't think they make a noise.

Anyway, right off the bat.

What does this expression mean?

It means immediately.

Right away.

Now, how do we use this expression?

In situations where we want to say that something happened, boom, right away, we can say right off the bat.

So a good example would be an English company that specializes in writing.

Okay? There's a new company out there.

And, you know, I understand new companies,

when they start, they want to find as many customers as possible, right?

So, this company never sent me an email to say hi they immediately started advertising on our Facebook page they never said hi they never me.
