If something is carved in stone, what does that mean?

That means you take stone and then you take a hammer and a chisel, which is like a knife, and you...

And you make a design in the stone.

So if you watch an American TV show or a movie, if you see a cemetery, a graveyard, you know,

where dead people are buried, you'll see these stones with the person's name.

Here lies John Smith, born 1851, died 1912, something like that.

And that guy's name, and when he was born and when he died is carved in stone.

Now, if you go back to the Bible and you go all the way back to the Ten Commandments,

you know, Moses went up the mountain, God carved the Ten Commandments in stone with his hand.

That's the story in the Bible.

Those are God's rules, the ten laws.

You must follow those laws.

Those are the laws set by God, by his own hand. You must follow those. They are carved in stone.
