Right, today's guest is undoubtedly one of cart fishing's biggest characters.

As well as this, he's been responsible for some of the sports most widely used innovations,

including the Chod Rig.

His own fishing is taking him from his local Shropshire meers to some of Europe's largest and toughest venues.

He's somebody who you just have to listen to,

as he's considered to be one of the most knowledgeable people in the business.

Work without sat in an advertising agency thinking,

I don't want to be doing all this rubbish,

I want the tackle box out making rigs or making bait or doing something.

I couldn't focus on what I was doing.

And if my girlfriend, who became my wife, wanted to go out on a Saturday night to a club which was normal for young people, I was thinking, oh, no, why do I have to have that getting in the way?

You know, I just wonder if I could make some excuse for not going.

Yeah, I wanted her to be with me, you know, because it's normal part of your life for a normal person.

Yet, it's unbelievably selfish, cartfish, isn't it?

You know, you kind of, you want the best of both worlds, really.

But you'd need several lifetimes to do that, wouldn't you?

You'd need a normal life where you have a family and wife and all the rest of it and kids. And do all the holiday thing and go everywhere. And then you need a life as a carp angler to do all the... Yeah, you do. You know, all the ambitions you've got for it and the different places you want to go. That's funny with you, though, because obviously I didn't know you until last week.
