This is a phrasal verb. A pipe. You can think of your kitchen pipes or the pipes in the

bathroom, maybe even a smoking pipe. Down, what does this mean? This is a tough one. To pipe down means

to be quiet. So why do we say pipe?

Well, we can also think of pipe as your throat. The sound comes out of your throat. and the throat is like a pipe.
