Today is Wednesday, February 8, 2023, and we begin with some schools in the U.S. and around

the world now using pedal power in the classroom.

The idea add bike pedals below desks to allow kids to exercise while learning.

The goal is to improve fitness and focus while at the same time easing anxiety.

Many teachers are just now jumping on the bike bandwagon, but one middle school in North

Carolina was the first to get the wheels turning.

Teacher Bethany Lambeth added the devices in 2016 and at the time told station WRAL that

she noticed a decrease in student fidgeting and an increase in student performance.

Other schools are now giving the idea a spin, including a high school in the town of San

Nicolas de los Garza in Mexico.

The school's principal says they are such a hit that they are adding more and plan to

have them in all 21 classrooms soon.

A federal official is taking over family shopping duties to stay in touch with the American

people.
