revolution which as listeners know is our focus on artificial intelligence but to

refresh our memories the goal of AI is to create computers or programming that are just as smart, if not smarter,

than the human mind.

And the hope is that this technology can eventually start to think and reason at speeds that are both

unimaginable and without human help. This is often called AGI or strong AI, but there is a long journey before we ever get to that point of, well, stuff that sounds

like a Hollywood movie. Instead, the journey to that distant place, boy, it is going to be full of lots of smaller innovations that we might call baby steps.

And that is what we're going to talk about today.

Some baby steps of innovation, along with some stumbling blocks to progress.

smaller innovations in AI for both the good and the bad. So let's get to it.

We start with news about a baby step that involves an actual human baby who is helping AI to learn.

And here's how, with a little background.

By the age of two, most human babies can understand about 300 words. By age

four that vocabulary and the comprehension of it pops to about a thousand words.

But how exactly does that process work in the brain that allows little kiddos to learn?
