Hello, fellow dog trainers. This is Hannah Branigan, and you are listening to Drinking

0:18.6

from the Toilet, a podcast that goes behind the scenes into the

0:22.1

real world of dog training. If you are like me, you love your dogs, you love your job, but some

0:29.3

days it's just not all rainbows and unicorns. Sometimes at the end of the day, or the end of the training

0:34.8

session, you just need to put the dog in the crate

0:37.6

and go pour yourself a glass of wine. On those days, knowing that you're not alone and your

0:42.3

struggles really helps, especially when you're comparing the crappy session you just experienced

0:46.5

with your friend's highly edited Facebook video. But don't worry, I don't intend this podcast to be

0:51.9

entirely made up of complaining in soapboxes, although to be

0:55.6

honest, there will probably be a little bit of both, because sometimes I just can't help myself.

0:59.9

My goal is to bring you empathy, entertainment, and practical information, so that hopefully there will

1:05.1

be fewer of those crappy training sessions in the future. There will also probably be a fair

1:10.5

amount of completely impractical

1:11.7

information. But if there is ever a dog training version of Jeopardy, you, dear listener, will be

1:17.1

set. But first, let me tell you a little bit about who I am, why I'm here, and maybe why you

1:24.7

might bother listening to my rambling. I've been training dogs and teaching people

1:29.2

professionally for about 12 years, which is pretty impressive since I still consider myself to be 26.

1:35.2

I am passionate about training and teaching with positive reinforcement methods. Sometimes maybe too

1:41.0

passionate. Like many other trainers, my dog training career slash journey began when I adopted a challenging

1:47.3

dog that I was desperate to help.

1:49.5

Initially, I worked with trainers using not-so-dog-friendly methods, or particularly human-friendly

1:54.4

methods for that matter.
