More than 26 years ago, Davenport, Iowa was the scene of a murder that left the community

fearing for the safety of its children. The burning body of a nine-year-old girl was found

in the playground of Jefferson Elementary School about 9 p.m. September 17, 1990. Scott Reeder was

the night police reporter for the Quad City Times and one of the first people to come across the body.
