It is a Friday edition of Pro Football Talk Live from Radio Row in Miami, and I'm being very

calm and restrained because I've learned something this week, and I've learned it in a

very difficult and annoying way.

Thanks to the Boomer and Geo show to the right of me and Golick and Wingo to the left of me,

apparently there's something that I hadn't learned about being a professional radio broadcaster.

When you sign on, when you're not in your usual habitat, you're supposed to talk really, really, really loudly so everybody knows you're there.

Because they only do it for like 10 seconds.

Like they can't maintain it for four hours, much less for four minutes.

It peters out quickly.

But it is the declaration of the world.

It's the call of the peacock

or the rooster or whatever other bird uses sounds for mating purposes

that's how

the day gets started
